Using low impact stretching and conditioning exercises you will strengthen and tone muscles, improve flexibility and develop your sense of awareness as to how your body works. Our lifestyles today mean that we spend many hours sitting down - at work, in our cars and at home. This weakens our core muscles resulting in other muscles having to compensate to stabilise our bodies; this in turn often leads to poor posture and back problems. Suitability The beauty of Pilates, and no doubt one of the reasons for its popularity, is that the technique can be performed by anyone. Young or old, male or female, high tuned athletes to first time exercisers. Pilates can also be suitable for rehabilitation from injury, and both during and post pregnancy.
